Record turnout for medical center foundation golf tournament

It was a beautiful day for golf as 23 teams and 88 players gathered at the Jefferson Community Golf Course Friday, June 9, for the annual Greene County Medical Center Foundation Golf Tournament. For the second consecutive year, the 9 am shotgun-start tournament took place during the popular Bell Tower Festival.

“We are grateful to all who sponsored, played in and volunteered at our annual event,” said Foundation director, Nancy Houska. “This is a day all about relaxation, friendly competition and camaraderie while supporting the mission and vision of Greene County Medical Center and the Foundation. Because of the generosity of these businesses, organizations and individuals, we raised over $17,000 in support of the services, programs and equipment needs at Greene County Medical Center.”

At registration, golfers were treated to donuts donated by the Greene County Medical Center auxiliary volunteers and a grilled lunch was provided by the Jefferson Hy-Vee. The day concluded with the announcement of winners.

Taking home the overall championship title was the Greater Life Health & Wellness team of Michael Rossmanith, Chris Anderson, Collin Tjepkes and Ross Martens. Flight winners were Drees Company, Home State Bank and Midland Power. Hole prizes went to Brett Abbotts for men’s longest drive, Katie Roberts for women’s longest drive, Mike Owen with the longest putt, Chris Yeager was closest to the pin and Brett Abbotts also took home a Pit Boss grill in the practice green putting contest.

The day was made possible thanks to the hole-in-one, eagle, hole and gift sponsorships. Major sponsors included Aramark, Drees Company, Home State Bank, Hy-Vee, Landus, OS, Inc., SCP Health, UnityPoint Des Moines, and Wild Rose Casino.
